With Competitor Research, you can access and see millions of product listings.

Make laser-targeted searches and find out which stores sell the products you're researching.

🛈 Info: You can directly import products to your Shopify store or AutoDS account, provided our system identifies a supplier on AliExpress or AutoDS. Please ensure you are connected and have active accounts on each platform.

Step 1: Set the Parameters

To begin spying, click on the Competitor Research link at the left, and then add your keywords in the boxes.

There are several options you can fill out:

  • Include Title Keywords – the system will only include competitor products that have these keywords based on the product title.

  • Include Description Keywords – search for products that include the keywords you type based on the products’ descriptions.

  • Include Domain Keywords – these are keywords in the URL of the store

The other three are exclusions. If you type keywords in these boxes, the tool will not include them in the search results. These are:

  • Exclude Title Keywords

  • Exclude Description Keywords

  • Exclude Domain Keywords

Step 2: Advanced Filters

The next step is to narrow your search by using the ADVANCED FILTERS feature. Click the link, and you will see this:

As you can see, there are other boxes that you can toggle. These are:

  • Minimum to maximum product price

  • Minimum to the maximum number of products in a competitor's store

  • Minimum to maximum number of product images in a listing

  • Minimum to maximum product variation

Below that, there are dropdowns that you can toggle. Once done with the selection, click on the SEARCH button at the bottom right:

Step 3: Product Selection

Here is a screenshot of the search results:

For this analysis, let us start at the content at the top:

  • Product – contains the name, website, number of images and variants of a similar product.

  • Links – search for products on AliExpress.

  • Price – sorts prices from lowest to highest.

  • Store info – quantity of products.

  • Category – sorts by product category.

  • Product creation date – sorts by product creation date.

  • Store creation date – sorts by store creation date.

  • Product type – sorts by product type.

The Product and Price contains links. If you click on the link in the Product section the system will redirect you to the product page.

If you click on the link in the Price section, you will see a pop-up window like this:

This pop-up window shows Profit calculator.

Input the cost of good sold and shipping cost per item to get the numbers breakdown on the product. Other numbers can also be customized to your needs. These are:

  • Selling price – this is the price you plan on charging your customers.

  • Example orders – the amount of units you expect to sell. This is the default value we put across all products.

  • Estimated cost of good sold – the amount you expect to pay your supplier for each unit.

  • Estimated shipping cost – the amount you expect to pay your supplier for each unit shipped.

  • Estimated fees per order – the estimated fee you expect to pay your payment processor per order. Calculated as 2.9% + $0.3 per order.

  • Estimated CPA – the amount you expect to spend for a conversion. It is calculated as a third of “Selling Price”.

  • P/C Ratio – the price to cost ratio is calculated by dividing the product cost with the selling price.

  • BECPA – the breakeven cost per acquisition (BECPA) is the maximum CPA you should aim to get to breakeven on the product.

  • BEROAS – the breakeven return on ad spend (BEROAS) is the minimum ROAS you should aim to get to breakeven on the product.

  • Profit margin – this is the profit margin you can expect after taking into account all the numbers in the “Numbers Breakdown”.

Finally, profit calculator will show you potential profit. Potential profit is calculated by subtracting the CPA from BECPA and multiplying the result by 25,000 units sold.

🛈 Note: the product used in this example was originally priced at $159.95. However, due to a 50% discount on the website, the final price per unit was reduced to $79.95.

If you click on the three dots icons on the right, pop-up window shows several functions:
